"I have had the pleasure of coaching Ryan during the summer of 2011 for the Post 295 JR (17U) American Legion team. He is a solid player who can play many positions. He has a good arm and plays solid defense wherever he is played. He can hit very well too. He has a good eye and does not swing at bad pitches. One of his best attributes is he is VERY COACHABLE. He listens to coaches and is a hard worker. He played an important role in the team which came in 3rd at the NABF High School World Series held in Tennessee last summer."

"At the game Monday, when Ryan was on third heading home and was caught between 3rd and home but made it back - then 2nd base runner was caught between 2nd and 3rd, Ryan jumped off 3rd acting as if he was running home to draw attention off 2nd base runner, who made it safely back to 2nd. Ryan made it back to 3rd as Woodsboro didn't know who to tag. It was one of the smartest moves I have ever seen a HS player make. Ryan saved a critical out, since I believe it was in extra innings. He is an incredibly smart player in addition to talented athletically. You can't teach that in clinics or practice. It was incredibly impressive! There was another play he made while in the field that was very clever, but the details escape me now."
